– Actually NOWACO people are quite simple, Domenica ponders, – which is due to the fact, that the head office of Denmark isn’t in Copenhagen, the capital, but in Aalborg. Here people are more down to earth, I think. I like the simple, country like way, although I’m from a big city myself.
Domenica is mainly engaged in the purchase of goods at the office in São Paulo, where she has 4 colleagues, but she is also involved a little in selling.
As the manager of NOWACO Brazil Domenica Alves visits the Danish head quarters several times a year.
– I appreciate their lifestyle, Domenica says, – although it is impossible to adopt it and start using it in São Paulo. I think we are a strong group of colleagues, the word family is too intense, but I feel that everyone at NOWACO loves what they are doing. So if a person enjoys trading and working in an international business, NOWACO is a good place to be, Domenica concludes.
Domenica Alves became head of the NOWACO Brazilian office in 2004, – but not without a lot of persuasion. When NOWACO first approached Domenica Alves with a job offer she was working at a company in São Paulo, where NOWACO was one of her customers. NOWACO was determined that Domenica was a perfect match for their company, but she had to be asked 4 times, before she accepted the invitation. At that time, she had been with the other company for eight years.
– I was quite happy with my work, and I didn’t find NOWACO’s job offer interesting when they first asked me, Domenica tells us.
In 2002 NOWACO was about to establish an office in Porto Alegre and had to do so without the person who was cut out for the task of being the manager of the place. When NOWACO Brazil in 2004 opened another office in São Paulo where Domenica lived, she accepted the job as the manager of that office. In 2005 the office in Porto Alegre was closed.
– I had been doing the same thing for eight years at my former job, and I was challenged by the idea of helping NOWACO succeed in new markets, like for instance establishing trades between Brazil and Eastern Europe, Domenica remembers.
Domenica is very happy with her change and feels, that she has developed as a person. Sometimes her colleagues in Brazil tell her, that she has become too Danish. Maybe she has been affected by a NOWACO virus, Domenica wonders, because the way Brazilians work is totally different to the Danish way, and this doesn’t suit everyone – some of her former colleagues left the company, because they didn’t fit in.
The ability alone to buy and sell food and foodstuffs at the best prices doesn’t make you a winner in the area of food trading. What you really need to know is where on Earth to find the right customer for exactly the goods that you want to sell. Or maybe it is the other way around? You have the buyers but you need the goods.
NOWACO is represented with offices and our own employees everywhere on the globe where it matters. Over the years we have built a strong and worldspanning network of associates, partners and representatives, thus gaining an ever updated knowledge of the business fields that we cultivate.
